| The Sonoma diet was created by dietitian Connie Gutterson and is basically a Mediterranean diet. The name Sonoma comes from a region in Northern California, that is known for its wine industry. | Zoom
 | The Sonoma diet is based on the Mediterranean Food Pyramid. The main points of this new and popular diet are the enjoyment of food, gourmet cooking and moderate portion sizes.
The weight loss program is divided in three stages, called waves. Wave 1 lasts 10 days and is a very restrictive phase. The idea is to overcome the addiction to sugary and fatty foods. However, this is not a severe induction phase.
Wave 2 is a face in which each meal is created with appropriate portions. This is also the primary weight loss face. Calories are not counted an there are no special foods or supplements.
Wave 3 establishes an eating pattern that helps weight management. The Sonoma diet includes a wine guide to assist in selecting the correct wine to accompany each meal.
